Systems Specialist



Job Goal:  To assist the ESC in attaining its goals to increase student achievement, to assist districts in being more fiscally responsible, and to assist in providing the infrastructure to enable the successful integration of technology into learning. Employment with Region 6 ESC is considered to be at-will employment and may be terminated by Region 6 ESC at any time due to a reduction in funds, non-renewal of grant funding, other financial contingency, or any other legal reason.

Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • General certification in these areas are preferred; Server Admin/Systems Admin
  • One to two years experience in servers and computer/peripheral repair is needed
Special Knowledge and Skills

High level of expertise in computer networking required; multi-platform and systems experience preferred
High degree of professionalism including strong public relation skills
Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with public schools and ESC personnel
Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize workload to most efficiently and effectively complete required work in a timely manner
Ability to use technology effectively
Willingness to travel

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Provide remote network support to contracted districts
Maintain and provide support for PDC equipment and sessions
Support ESC and district servers
Provide support on ESC and district networks
Consult with districts assessing computer hardware and software needs
Assist in troubleshooting, monitoring, and setup of equipment
Provide support for phone system
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair technology equipment
Perform hardware and software upgrades
Frequent Region-wide travel
Install network wiring and equipment
Develop and maintain PII policies
Monitor access and investigate breaches
Collaborate with teams
Conduct security audits
Stay updated on best practices
Perform other duties as assigned

  • Commensurate with experience

Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals Servers, Switches, Routers, Computers, Tablets, Laptops, Chrome Books, ESC phones, presentation equipment

Working Conditions

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
