CHILD NUTRITION TECHNICIAN
Job Goal: Provide professional development and technical assistance to Contracting Entities (CEs) according to the Texas Department of Agriculture contract with the ESC. Collaborate with CEs to develop and implement nutrition programs that are compliant with Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Institutional Management, Food Service, Business, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Science, Public Health, Education, or related field.
In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, qualifications must meet USDA Professional Standards to include: Associate’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; and at least one year of relevant school nutrition programs experience; or• High school diploma (or GED) and 5 years of relevant experience in school nutrition program
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications as required by the Texas Department of Agriculture
Special Knowledge and Skills
General:
Respond to clients' needs in a courteous and timely manner with current, accurate information.• Work on multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision.• Utilize distance learning technologies for meetings/technical assistance/trainings• Follow all federal, state, and ESC guidelines, policies, and procedures.• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships within the ESC, with LEAs, TDA contacts, and any partner organizations.• Maintain all internal and external required program paperwork and program documentation• Manage calendars to ensure all required meetings and trainings are attended and provided.• Submit internal and external required paperwork and program documentation by requested deadlines.• Maintain confidentiality with internal and external student and LEA information• Other duties as may be assigned Major Responsibilities under TDA Contract• Plan and provide training and technical assistance to Contracting Entities (CEs)• Maintain reporting information and CE files and data according to TDA guidelines• Participate in regional training in all areas of program operations for CNPs• Collaborate with other regions to facilitate the implementation of statewide training• Attend required TDA meetings• Attend and participate in special committees and workgroups as directed by TDA• Travel to CEs for in-person visits; minimum 50% of work hours• Perform additional duties as assigned

- Extensive relevant knowledge and experience in areas such as institutional food service operations, management, business, and/or nutrition education
- Skill in time management• Ability to communicate complex information to diverse groups
- Ability to adapt well to changing priorities and direction• Ability to meet the needs of adult learners
- Ability to work with Child Nutrition Directors of various experiences
- Ability to objectively evaluate data and provide pertinent feedback
- Ability to demonstrate effective training skills in differentiation strategies
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for TDA nutrition programs and funding
- Detail-oriented and able to submit required documentation error-free and on time
- Ability to utilize current technology platforms and software
- Three years of experience in management of school or institutional food service operations, preferred
- Prior experience as a Child Nutrition Director, preferred
- Three years of experience training adults, preferred
