ASCENDER SCHOOL BUSINESS SOFTWARE CONSULTANT



Job Goal  Provide prompt and accurate support to schools in Region 6 ESC, regarding the use of the ASCENDER Business applications, including technical and school payroll-related issues.

Education

  • A college degree is preferred around the area of Accounting, Finance, Business, or Management Information Systems preferred.
  • High School Diploma required  

Special Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with school or government accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of TEA Financial Accounting Resource Guide and any local, state, and federal reporting requirements
  • Perform assignments without continuous supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a rapport with schools and Region 6 ESC personnel.
  • Capable of working closely, and completing tasks, with co-workers.
  • Ability to collaborate with schools and Region 6 ESC personnel.
  • Ability to work with all facets of data processing
  • Excellent organization, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Possesses a positive attitude and work ethic
  • Employs acceptable listening, researching, and timely response techniques to clients and co-workers
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the assigned responsibilities

Experience

  • Experience using accounting software
  • Experience analyzing and resolving problems with school finance/human resources.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and completing tasks under pressure.
  • Two years of school finance experience preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the formulation and delivery of business support services to schools.
  • Provide support in the areas of School Finance and local, state, and federal reporting.
  • Assists schools with state and federal reporting, as well as TEA mandates, TRS procedures and IRS laws
  • Perform tasks such as payroll processing on behalf of schools
  • Compose training material and conduct training/workshops
  • Analyzing computer and software related issues
  • Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding Region 6 ESC matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned
