Primary Purpose:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Agricultural Mechanics Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural mechanics and a passion for preparing students with practical, hands-on skills for careers in agriculture, welding, fabrication, and related industries. The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction in agricultural mechanics courses, supervising shop activities, and supporting the school’s FFA chapter and student projects.


 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Vocational Agriculture or ability to obtain certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agricultural Mechanics courses.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in welding, metal fabrication, woodworking, small engine repair, electrical systems, plumbing, and agricultural equipment operation.
  • Supervise and mentor students participating in FFA activities, including Career Development Events (CDEs), Leadership Development Events (LDEs), Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), and agricultural mechanics projects.
  • Oversee the construction, maintenance, and safety of student agricultural mechanics projects.
  • Maintain and organize the agricultural mechanics shop, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and best practices in the agricultural mechanics laboratory/shop environment.
  • Assist students with livestock show projects, welding competitions, scholarship applications, and other agricultural opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, community members, and industry partners.
  • Stay current with industry standards, technology, and advancements in agricultural mechanics education.
