Paraprofessional – Special Education



Job Title: Paraprofessional 
Reports to: Principal/General Education Teacher
2026 - 2027 School Year

Job Summary: 
Assist teachers and school staff in supporting student learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons introduced by the teacher, help students stay focused, and provide additional support—especially for students with special needs.

Help with everyday classroom tasks such as preparing materials, organizing supplies, grading simple assignments, and keeping the classroom clean and orderly. Supervise students during lunch, recess, transitions, and field trips to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.

Support students with daily routines, which may include snack time, restroom breaks, and other personal needs. Communicate student progress, concerns, or behavior issues to the teacher. Be flexible and willing to assist with both instructional and non-instructional duties as needed to support the overall learning environment.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Approximately nine month working period
  • 60-day probation
  • Salary per salary schedule
  • Position constitutes an employee at will of the Board, with a contract length and salary to be established annually by the Board
  • Fulfills the requirements of the Texas Paraprofessional Standards
