Special Education Teacher
Job Title: Special Education Teacher (Resource)
Reports to: Campus Principal
Position Summary
The Special Education Resource Teacher provides direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities in a resource and/or inclusion setting. This position ensures students receive services aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and supports access to the general education curriculum in compliance with guidelines from the Texas Education Agency.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support
Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on student IEP goals.
Support students in accessing the general education curriculum through accommodations and modifications.
Collaborate with general education teachers to implement effective instructional strategies.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
IEP & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) committee meetings.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all special education requirements.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Collect and analyze data on student performance and IEP goals.
Assist with formal and informal assessments.
Report student progress to parents and staff regularly.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers.
Provide guidance on accommodations, behavior supports, and instructional strategies.
Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education certification.
Special Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies.
Understanding of diverse learning needs and behavior management techniques.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
