Job Title: Curriculum Director
Reports to: Superintendent

Position Summary:
The Curriculum Director provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s instructional programs. This role ensures alignment with the Texas Education Agency standards, including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and promotes academic excellence for all students.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Implementation
Lead the design, review, and continuous improvement of district curriculum aligned with TEKS.
Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and subject areas.
Collaborate with campus administrators and teachers to implement effective instructional strategies.

Instructional Leadership
Provide guidance and support to principals and instructional staff on best practices in teaching and learning.
Promote research-based instructional methods and data-driven decision-making.
Support the integration of technology into the curriculum.Assessment & Accountability
Oversee district assessment programs, including preparation for state assessments such as the STAAR.
Analyze student performance data to guide instructional improvements.
Ensure compliance with state and federal accountability systems.

Professional Development
Plan and deliver ongoing professional development for teachers and staff.
Support instructional coaching and mentoring programs.
Stay current with educational trends, laws, and best practices.

Program Evaluation
Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and recommend improvements.
Coordinate textbook adoption and instructional materials selection.
Monitor grants and special programs related to curriculum and instruction.

Qualifications
Education & Certification
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field (Doctorate preferred).
Valid Texas teaching certificate.
Principal or Mid-Management certification preferred.

Experience
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, or campus administration.
Familiarity with Texas state standards and accountability systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep understanding of TEKS and Texas accountability systems.
Ability to wear multiple hats and adapt in a small district environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with a small staff.
Data-driven mindset with practical application in classrooms.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.  

Working Conditions
Frequent classroom visits and collaboration with staff.
Occasional evening meetings (board meetings, family engagement events).
District-wide responsibilities across all grade levels.
